Eating in Saijo: Aozou

Aozou is a one minute walk from Saijo, a 30 minute train ride from Hiroshima. If you are staying in Hiroshima, Saijo is well worth visiting with 7-8 sake distilleries in one town. Our favourite was Kamotsuru - https://www.facebook.com/KamotsuruSake/. Their were selected by Japan’s President Abe for his dinner with President Obama during his official visit.

Back to Aozou … it was literally one of the best shoyu ramen’s I have had. Light broth, rich shoyu tare and small chunks of pork fat. Don’t let the thought of pork fat put you off - they balanced the bowl so well it isn’t overwhelming.
