Tsuta has arrived in San Francisco!
I first read about Tsuta on Ramen Adventures, a blog about Ramen in Japan. They are the first ramen shop to get a Michelin Star and won the famed Tokyo Ramen of the Year magazine award. They are best known for Shoyu Ramen.
I had the Shio Ramen - it is so hard to find in San Francisco with all the Tonkotsu Ramen we have but next time I will try the Shoyu. The Shio was SERIOUSLY good. I recommend anyone that likes ramen to try this place. The decor is a bit bland and “mall-like” but nice enough. The service was awesome. Some things I liked about the Shio - really rich salty chicken broth, some great chashu not that fatty, lots of underlying smoky fish flavour that gives the umami and a good hint of garlic.
My only gripe - no alcohol. So no sake. No beer. Ah well, this is San Francisco. Best be healthy!
